Emotional Intelligence Training

When Mike turned to the team and asked how they perform under pressure, everyone looked at each other, unsure of what the 'right' answer was.

"Depends on the situation" Nathan

"I am pretty good in a high-pressure situation" Tor

"I don't really know, I think I would possibly panic" Richard

Let me give you a scenario...

You have had a nightmare of a day at work, you're glad to be driving home, you put the music on and then notice a car fast approaching in your rearview mirror, he gets right up close and starts beeping and gesturing for you to speed up. You are not driving too slow and there are dog walkers and kids walking on the pavements on both sides of the road. He is persistent, he keeps beeping and gesturing to you while trying to overtake you.

How do you react?

Think about this and answer honestly.

Nathan said "I would probably turn the music up and ignore him. I have already had a bad day and don't need to make it any worse, eventually he will pass and be on his way."

Robbie "I would be so frustrated, my reaction would probably involve a number of choice words and some gestures back at him. It would really wind me up and it would probably take me ages to calm down"

Tor "I would turn off at the next exit and find an alternative route, I would remove myself completely from the situation."
