Emotional Intelligence

Emtional intelligence is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.

Emotional intelligence, in our opinion, is one of the most important things you could ever learn. The difference in your work and personal life by levelling up your EI can be life changing.

We were delighted when Capita asked us to come back and support their teams on the emerging talent programme. Whilst we have delivered EI support to leaders of all levels, we also love to bring this topic to life for those on the front line too!

The team at beami designed a 2-stage learning event delivered virtually over two half days, making it easy to plan into people’s diaries. Part 1 focusses on your relationship with yourself and part 2 focusses on your relationship with others.

We’ve delivered this a few times now and are always humbled with the amazing feedback. It’s a training program that we love to deliver and get a genuine thrill of knowing that we’ve helped others to raise their awareness of EI and crucially, raise awareness of themselves too!

Here is a smattering of comments from out most recent cohort:

"Amazing workshop, look forward to more!"

"The course flowed well, key topics broken down into engaging material and a good amount of interaction"

"I will work on my empathy – I sometimes lose patience when a colleague doesn’t respond to me in time."

"The facilitator was very good at presenting and kept it interesting, light-hearted and fun!"

Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to recognize, understand, and manage our own emotions as well as the emotions of others. It encompasses skills such as empathy, self-awareness, self-regulation, and effective communication. Emotional intelligence plays a crucial role in our personal and professional lives. It enables us to navigate social interactions, build meaningful relationships, and make informed decisions based on emotional cues.

One key reason why emotional intelligence is important is its impact on interpersonal relationships. People with high emotional intelligence are adept at understanding and empathizing with others, which allows them to build strong connections and resolve conflicts effectively. They have the ability to regulate their own emotions and respond to others in a compassionate and considerate manner. This not only fosters healthy relationships but also creates a positive and supportive environment. Additionally, emotional intelligence is vital in leadership roles, as it helps leaders understand and motivate their team members, build trust, and handle difficult situations with tact and sensitivity.

Moreover, emotional intelligence contributes to personal well-being and mental health. Individuals who possess emotional intelligence are better equipped to manage stress, cope with adversity, and maintain a positive outlook. They have a deeper understanding of their own emotions, which enables them to regulate them effectively and make wise choices. By being self-aware and in tune with their feelings, they can address their own needs and take care of their mental and emotional well-being. Furthermore, emotional intelligence enables individuals to navigate challenging situations, such as setbacks or failures, with resilience and a growth mindset, fostering personal growth and self-improvement.
